Intro
Walt Disney World is full of picturesque locations that are perfect for romantic encounters. After eight and a half years of dating, I decided to finally ask the big question at Disney World. Alexis and I met in middle school, and while things were initially rocky, we started dating the summer between middle school and high school. I always heard her say she dreamed of going to Disney World, so it was so amazing when we went together for the first time in 2018. Our first trip to Disney World together happened during our freshman year of college, I had visited Disney a few times but she had never been there before.
Disney World instantly became a special place for us. After our first trip together, we decided we wanted to make it an annual trip. Later it led to us becoming pass holders, and after a few years and countless visits, I decided that getting engaged at Walt Disney World would be special. After a brief internet search, I realized people have been getting engaged at Walt Disney World in a variety of places. For me I felt that Cinderella Castle would be the perfect place for us.
Pre-trip arrangements
After I purchased the ring, I tried to decide how I was going to pull off getting engaged at Walt Disney World. I set a few expectations, mostly that it would be in the daylight, and that I would be able to get a picture of the proposal. I wanted it to appear like a natural occurrence, and I didn’t want there to be any hints ahead of time that it would be coming soon. The PhotoPass photographers are great, but the lines are often very long in front of the Castle, so I decided that it might not make the best moment. Additionally I did not want to hold up the line for anyone else, or have any awkward moments.
So I contacted one of my friends who lives in Central Florida, and he and his wife agreed to help out and take some pictures. We often visit them when we travel to Disney World, so it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for us to take pictures in front of the castle. In the middle of our photo shoot, I held onto her hands, and proposed. A crowd had gathered around us, but all I could see was her. I was very nervous and shaky, but it was worth it when she said yes, and I heard the crowd clapping in front of us. The relief was deeply satisfying, and all the years of dreaming for a perfect moment like this had come true.

Celebration
To celebrate this moment, we took a few more pictures, and then grabbed some ice cream from the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street. Then we walked into Emporium Gift Shop to grab our “happily ever after” buttons. The rest of the day was perfect, we ate dinner at the Crystal Palace and enjoyed the company of Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore, and we stayed at the park for the extended evening hours. This was a privilege for deluxe resort guests, and it was such a spectacular experience. The hours went from 11 PM-1 AM, and the park was very empty for most of that time. We walked straight on to many popular rides like the Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Being able to take photos in front of the castle without a bunch of people in the background was an added bonus too!
Flowers
To end the night on a good note, I ordered flowers through Disney floral and gifts services, and had them placed inside of the room. In a day full of surprises, this was the cherry on top. A special thanks goes out to my friends in Florida for being there for me to take pictures and provide moral support. I also want to recognize my friends and family back home cheering me on, and my fiancé Alexis.
